Now you do not need to check on the patient every once in a while to make sure that his oxygen levels are normal. When a dangerous change occurs, the oxygen monitor will just ring you a warn ― literally!

We typically take oxygen for granted. When we breathe, we assume that the oxygen that we are having is enough for us. Hundreds of years ago, the level of oxygen in our breathing air was about 30%. But because of global warming and the relentless upsurge of pollution, the oxygen level to most parts of the world has become 19% or lower.

Did you know that 90% of our energy is created by oxygen? We use this element to get rid of human waste and toxins. Without oxygen, as we all know, we die.

Oxygen Deficiency Disease can be acquired by overcooking our food, eating processed food, drinking water with fluoride and lack of exercise among others. Symptoms of this disease include stomach hyperacidity; viral, bacterial and parasitic infection; bronchial and circulation problems; dizziness; fatigue; anxiety; poor digestion; weakness; low immunity and development of tumors.

In order to battle with, or in the least prevent this, medical experts suggest the use of an oxygen monitoring device to have your blood oxygenation level checked. Many devices as such are being sold on the market nowadays. People normally prefer the fingertip oxygen monitor among the products because it is portable and easy to use.

An oxygen monitor is a noninvasive method of measuring a person’s level of blood oxygenation and pulse rate. The device is attached to a translucent body part of the body, usually on the ear lobe or on the fingertip. Normally, it is connected to an external unit which displays the readings. But battery-powered pulse oximeters that need no external unit are portable, being available for home use. This device can be used if the person is stationed in an area with a high altitude, if someone undergoes a strenuous labor or exercise, or if the person has a cardiac or pulmonary problem.

Some oxygen monitors offer a good feature. The device rings an alarm when the oxygen level or the pulse rate goes down below a specified percentage. This is highly significant most especially if a guardian of a patient, or the athlete, is too busy attending to other things. The alarm will give them a warning, and, thus, will prevent terrible events before things become irreversible. Some products, especially battery-powered ones, give out another alarm sound when the battery level is low.

Most of these products set a pulse rate measuring range of 30 bpm to 240 bpm, and oxygen level of 35% to 100%. Once the measure drops down (or goes up, for the pulse rate) significantly, the alarm will ring.

One downside of this technology is that it might give out false alarms due to accidental detachment of the device to the body. Repetitive instances of false warnings will cause tension in your home, and eventually might decrease the watchfulness of the guardian. Some products sold nowadays offer a motion proof oxygen monitor which provides greater accuracy in determining the oxygenation and pulse rate while lessening instances of false alarms.
